It’s our 15th Birthday & we want to celebrate with you!

Come down for a Great Aussie BBQ.

You know we don’t need an excuse to throw a party, so for our 15th birthday we decided to throw not one, but 2 parties (well, it will actually be the same party but it will happen 2 days in a row).

The festivities will take place on the weekend of 1st and 2nd of June from 5.30pm until late. We would love to celebrate another year around the sun with you and there’s nothing better than an Aussie BBQ to do it.

For this party we will bring back our ‘teepee’ barbecue (you must remember it from last year Food & Wine Festival) and there will be food stations filled with delicious prawn and lamb skewers, ABC soy marinated chicken, flatbread, corn cobs, cob loaf, mix grill veggie kebab, grilled reef bug with nduja butter and Marsh’s Butcher beef sausages – because what’s a barbecue without sausages, right?

We will have a pop-up cocktail bar, where you can revisit some of your favourite Salt House cocktails from the past 15 years.

It will be a weekend of fun with live music (of course), so please come with your best dancing shoes because we will want to see you on the dance floor.

The best part of our birthday party: free entry and family-friendly event, so please feel free to bring the kids.

A journey of the senses

Jim Barry Wine Dinner at Salt House.

Join us for a journey of the senses on Wednesday 5th June, as we host another luxury wine dinner.

This will be a rare opportunity to taste Jim Barry‘s current and back vintages, paired in perfect harmony with a menu, specially designed for this evening by our Executive Chef Dan Crossman.

On the menu of this luxury wine dinner, local seafood – like pacific oysters, red emperor and painted crayfish – will stand out.

Hosted by Jason Baker – Jim Barry Wines Brand Ambassador since 2019 – this will be a memorable and unique wine and gastronomic experience!

Shine on Gimuy


Thursday 5th – Sunday 8th October

Shine On Gimuy will light up the waterfront with vibrant First Nations artworks leading the audience to Salt House Festival Hub where a four night live music programme will host performances from iconic First Nations artists including Dan Sultan, Emily Wurramara, Miiesha and Jungaji (formerly known as Troy Brady).

The Shine On Gimuy ‘Deep Wisdom’ Talk Series, sponsored by James Cook University, will span from Thursday to Sunday, featuring some of the nation’s most respected Scientists and Indigenous knowledge holders, who will discuss a range of topics including ‘Meet the Knowledge Investigators behind the World’s First Inventors’, ‘The Story of Sovereign Country; The Origins of The Living Cultures’, ‘Sophisticated Communications, Message Sticks and Songlines’ and ‘Sea Country and Marine Resources – The World’s Largest Coral Reef System’. These interactive talks will include delicious local produce luncheon and afternoon tea from local TNQ sources.

Music makers and ‘Deep Wisdom’ talks will run from October 5 – 8, while the ArtStory Walk light installations, featuring the extraordinary artworks of Michelle Yeatman (Gunggandji) and Paul Bong (Yidinji), and The Blak Markets continue everyday until October 15.
